Narcotic Addiction

Dr. Taylor feels that prescription drug abuse is a major health problem in the United States. For this reason Dr. Taylor discourages the use of narcotics for long term pain management. More importantly if your problem requires long term (greater than eight weeks) of narcotic usage, we encourage you to seek care from a pain specialist. As well we feel that patients should destroy all unused narcotics and avoid leaving them in areas where they can be obtained by other family members or children. It is the patient’s responsibility to maintain their narcotics in a safe environment to prevent the access of that narcotic medication by minors and/or individuals who have not been prescribed that medication.

Please discuss addiction concerns with your primary care physician, who can provide you with resources and treatment plans as deemed necessary.
